March 30, 2022

To the Dartmouth community,

As the snow melts and we look forward to warmer days, we are excited about spring at Dartmouth. A few weeks ago, we shared updates on expectations for the spring. Please review the community message for details about face masks, testing requirements, and other COVID-19 policies.

Now that spring has arrived, we can provide additional updates on the following:

  • Testing availability

  • Fitness Center access for employees beginning April 4

  • Booster clinic details

We know that some of you have been looking forward to Dartmouth relaxing COVID-related restrictions, while others are feeling anxious about these changes. When making decisions that affect a community with vastly different individual risk tolerances, it is impossible to address everyone’s concerns. We ask that you approach these and any future changes with respect and care for those around you, recognizing that everyone’s comfort levels and circumstances are different. We believe that, at this time, it is appropriate to remove some of the restrictions from earlier this year and continue the return to a more typical campus experience.

With that said, it appears that COVID-19 is here to stay. We recognize that our community is experiencing a rise in COVID-19 case counts as many students return from spring break, and a new variant is beginning to spread. However, we also know that most current cases are mild, and there are no known hospitalizations of Dartmouth students or employees due to COVID-19 infection. We encourage each of you to make decisions that are right for you, and to respect the decisions of your fellow Dartmouth community members. Testing resources will remain available throughout the term and face masks are welcome across campus.

We are committed to remaining flexible and responsive to changes in the virus, and we will continue to revisit policy decisions throughout the spring.

Testing Availability

Dartmouth students, faculty, staff, and appointees have access to in-person and take-home rapid antigen tests and in-person and take-home PCR tests. Read testing resources for information on in-person testing and drop-off and pick-up locations for take-home testing.

  • If you have symptoms or are attempting to test out of isolation, you are required to take an in-person rapid antigen test.

  • If you do not have symptoms and are not attempting to test out of isolation:

    • For once or twice weekly testing, required until April 10, you must complete an in-person or take-home PCR test. Rapid antigen tests do not count toward weekly testing requirements.

    • In other cases, you can choose a take-home antigen test, a take-home PCR test, or an in-person PCR test.

For spring term, students, faculty, staff, and appointees are able to pick up two take-home rapid antigen tests at a time, for your own use, as supplies allow. If you test positive using a take-home rapid antigen test, isolate immediately and read the COVID-19 test result instructions for next steps. See frequently asked questions on testing for more information.

Fitness Center Access for Employees

Athletics and Recreation is excited to welcome faculty and staff back to Alumni Gymnasium beginning on April 4. Facilities included in the Alumni Gym membership are the Zimmerman Fitness Center, Karl Michael Pool, West Gymnasium (no track), as well as the Berry Sports Center squash and racquetball courts.

For membership sales, please follow these instructions. Online sales are preferred, though walk-up hours are available from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

If you have questions, visit the Athletics website or contact the Athletic Sales Office at athletics.sales@dartmouth.edu or by phone at 603-646-2466.

Booster Clinic Details

Dartmouth is hosting a COVID-19 vaccination and booster clinic today, March 30, from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. at Alumni Hall in the Hopkins Center. The clinic is open to all Dartmouth students, faculty, staff, and appointees. Participants should register online. Walk-ins will be accepted at the clinic, though expect the registration and vaccination process to take about 30 minutes longer if you do not preregister.

To register for today's clinic, visit the Axiom Medical Vaccine Vault Portal. If you have previously attended an Axiom-managed clinic, log in on Axiom’s website and follow the instructions to register. If you experience issues registering for the clinic, visit Axiom’s instructions on how to register. Bring your vaccination card to Alumni Hall to document the COVID-19 vaccine you receive. Once you receive your COVID-19 shot, students should submit their record to the Health Service web portal, and employees should submit their record using the vaccine tracker form

With questions about any of these updates, please email covid-19.info@dartmouth.edu or call the COVID-19 Info Call Center at 603-646-2019.

We are grateful for the collective effort our community has shown to minimize the risk of the COVID-19 pandemic on campus. As policies evolve, we ask for your continued attention to communications and respect for one another. Enjoy the spring!

Sincerely,
Rick & Dave
