Dear students, faculty, and staff,

Summer at Dartmouth is in full swing, and we are excited to look ahead to fall classes. We hope you are staying safe and healthy, whether you are here in the Upper Valley or elsewhere in the world. As we continue to monitor COVID-19 trends, we know many of you are traveling, attending events, or looking forward to beginning a term or program. Please read the COVID-19 information below for guidance, reminders, and resources.

Travel recommendations

If you plan to travel, check the recommendations and requirements for the locations you are traveling to and for your return. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that you take a COVID-19 test before you travel and upon your return. Remember to wear a face mask when on public transportation. See the CDC’s travel resources for more information.

Testing at the start of term

Faculty and staff:

All students:

  • If you are traveling to Dartmouth, complete a take-home rapid antigen test within 24 hours of arrival.

  • If you are staying in the area, complete a take-home rapid antigen test so you have your test result before attending your first in-person gathering.

  • In addition to regular pick-up locations on and around campus, undergraduates can pick up tests and masks when they get their key card from Residential Life.

  • For details, read Dartmouth’s testing requirements for students starting a term.

Symptoms, close contact, testing positive

If you feel sick or have COVID-19 symptoms, wear a face mask, limit close contact with others, and test immediately even if you initially tested positive for COVID-19 in the previous 90 days.

If you are a close contact with someone who has tested positive, wear a face mask, limit close contact with others, and follow Dartmouth’s testing and quarantine instructions.

If you test positive for COVID-19, wear a face mask, isolate immediately, and notify your close contacts. Students must report their positive test to the Dartmouth College Health Service. Email dicks.house.nurse@dartmouth.edu. Faculty and staff must report their positive test to Axiom Medical by calling 833-408-1338. Read our frequently asked questions on testing and resources for coping with COVID-19 and post-COVID.

COVID-19 vaccine policy

Students, faculty, and staff are required to receive all recommended doses in their primary series of COVID-19 vaccine, and one booster dose when eligible, or they must have an approved exemption. Dartmouth strongly recommends that students, faculty, and staff stay up to date on their COVID-19 vaccines. Read Dartmouth’s vaccine policy and resources for further information.

To help reduce the chance of spreading COVID-19, it is important to continue using prevention measures such as staying up to date on vaccines, testing, and wearing a mask. Leadership will continue to monitor COVID-19 developments, including reported cases, variant activity, hospitalizations, and vaccine progress, and will notify you of any adjustments to Dartmouth policies.

If you have questions about your health, students should contact the Dartmouth College Health Service. Faculty and staff should contact their health-care provider. For more information on Dartmouth’s COVID-19 policies and resources, visit the Dartmouth Together website or email covid-19.info@dartmouth.edu with questions.

Thank you for your support, your patience, and your ongoing effort to help keep our community healthy. We look forward to seeing you around campus.

Sincerely,

Dave and Rick
